Give up the heavy load

Give up the heavy load

One morning while my husband and I were talking before he left for work, he asked me a simple question that really led me to an eye opening pattern. He asked me why so many women carry so many purses and bags with them.  He went on to describe the women he sees walking into work every day, hauling a big purse, a tote bag or two and occasionally, even their own toilet paper.  Why do women carry all that around?  What do they have in those bags that is so important that they're willing to struggle every morning carrying all that stuff?I looked at my own purse...I traded in my big purse years ago for a small, bright red purse (my favorite color).  I've looked at bigger purses, thought about it, and realized that the bigger the purse I have, the more junk gets thrown in there and lost.  That is frustration that I don't need!  Then my kids of course want me to carry around their stuff, the purse becomes heavy, and I feel resentful that I am carrying around everyone else's stuff! Can you see where I'm going with this?  How many times have you felt a heaviness in your life or felt weighed down?  What percentage of that heaviness do you think is worrying about other people's issues or feeling someone else's negativity on top of your own?Speaking from my own experience as a woman, I know how easy it is to carry around the weight of the world, and sometimes it shows up as weight on my body. Why do we hold on to it so tightly, day after day, packing it around as if we need it to survive?  I remember many conversations over the years when my husband has asked me - why do you care what they think about you?  Why do you worry about that?  Why don't you just let that (resentment, anger, pain) go?  He seems to know how to do that naturally.  I am happy to say that over the years I have learned to downsize the emotional baggage I carry around - just like I downsized my purse!  My journey through life is much lighter, happier, and it is so much easier to move and keep going.I hope you will give yourself the gift of giving up the heavy load you carry around. You have great things to do in your life, and you don't need the distractions, the drama, the heaviness, the pain, the fear, or any other weight slowing you down! Now, as one of my wise friends says:  Go have a great life!
